How to make Origami Stas by CandidCandy How to make Origami Stas by CandidCandy
People have been asking me lately "How do you make those paper stars?" So, I decided to put together a handy-dandy tutorial!
All pictures were taken by me. :iconrythemguy: made the awesome layout for me :3
If you have any more questions about making stars, don't hesitate to ask!

EDIT: I DO NOT RECOMMEND PLIERS ANY MORE!!! They puncture the stars and make them look all funky.

:iconsubtleknees: has created an AWESOME guide [link] on how to get the stars to pop perfectly if you're having difficulties with it! And shows you how to use pliers the right way! XD

Want to see some more cool stars? Check out my gallery! [link]
Want to use some awesome paper to make your stars? My gallery has that, too! [link]

Enjoy!!!! :3

Hi i absolutely love your tutorial is very well done, but i wonder, what should the size of the strip be? i tried to make following your instructions but i was unable to obtain the star since my strip was too short, wich size do you recomend?
Thank you for your time, Regards.

Chances are you are pressing the actually pentagon too hard and creasing the edges too much, causing it to cave in. If your fingers are too sweaty, the moisture will make it too difficult to fold, as well.

Thank you! this is by far the easiest and most clear tutorial I have found on how to make these stars! I made one successfully on the first try unlike others I have tried that just ended up frustrating me. Yours is simple and to the point, again Thanks!

you may be creasing the edges of the paper too hard as you fold them. that may be it if the paper is kind of caving in on itself. try not to hold it too tightly.

:iconthepurplepandalovesu:
can u use origami paper for this??

:iconcandidcandy:
CandidCandy Featured By Owner Mar 25, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
if you want to. i wouldn't really recommend doing so only because you have to make the strips of paper fairly thin and they're tiny. i mean, they're actually really cute tiny, but they're just difficult to fold and indent is all.

well, you can use printer paper and cut strips from it, lengthwise. You can also print off paper you find on DA. I've made some that you can use [link] and there's other users who have made free paper you can use. Quilling paper also works.
